Strengthening academic ties

Thanks to the joint Ukrainian-Slovak study programmes, we managed to strengthen relations, structures and professional contacts between the academic sector in Slovakia and Ukraine, allowing for the further development of a student and labour mobility scheme for Ukrainian and university graduates in Slovakia. Between 2017 and 2023, more than 50 students successfully graduated, focusing on software engineering, automation and integrated computing technologies, computer science, design management and others.

The mobility scheme is linked to the sponsoring of ICT firms in Slovakia, which provide students with scholarships, training experience and successful graduates offering a two-year post-graduate job. The overall innovation of the project is that a comprehensive system based on short-term studies, job mobility and subsequent return to Ukraine is used for the transfer of professional experience, not short-term training. There are now more than 50 programme graduates placed in firms in Slovakia, and the National Coalition for Digital Skills and Occupations supports the operation of this project financially.

Slovak Republic's Landmark Initiative for Moldova and Ukraine

The Digital Coalition was actively involved in the implementation of the development project in cooperation with the European Migration Agency in the field of digital education and labour mobility in Moldova. The project, hosted by the international ICMPD institution and funded by the European Commission, is the first major project (total budget is 1.5 million euro) of the Slovak Republic directed to the partner countries Moldova and Ukraine and to provide 40 graduates for one year’s practice and 10 students for the study experience of Moldovan and Ukrainian higher education institutions, thus verifying Slovakia’s readiness to recruit foreign experts.
